MRI Appointment Information

At Kentucky Orthopaedics & Spine, we strive to make your experience as pleasant and relaxing as possible. As a rule, MRI machines make some noise during an exam. You will be able to communicate with the MRI technologist at all times and even be able to listen to music of your choice. The procedure is painless and takes about an hour to complete. Unlike other diagnostic tests, you may eat normally and take your medications before the MRI exam.

An MRI utilizes a strong magnet, therefore, it is very important that you inform your physician of any metal being anywhere in your body due to a prior surgery, injury, or other reason. Your physician will need to know if you have a pacemaker, heart valve, aneurysm clips or any implants, etc.
